Large French Art Deco Peacock 1930 by Charles LEMANCEAU, renowned for his art deco ceramic animals. This peacock is shown in many books on French art deco, pottery & crackle ware glazes. It is impressed Lemanceau on the exterior base and "made in France St Clement" in blue on the interior base. 20" tall on a 6 1/2" by 5" base. Good crackle finish on the off white pottery. As a specialist of animal sculptures, he's one of the most important sculptors in the French Art Deco period.
