Second grade self-portraits is one of my favorite lessons to teach. Having students study different aspects of there face in a mirror truly .

Trace hands and feet and then fill in a self-portrait.  Great to hang up for Back to School Night.

Need small Dry Erase Boards?  I love these DVD cases with the jacket turned inside out.  My kids feel like they have "real office supplies" when we use these.  (Thanks to Mandy Hassell for the free idea!)

DIY Dry Erase Boards: Write on DVD cases with whiteboard markers and use socks or gloves as erasers. The glove/sock fits inside the DVD case for easy storage.

Tin Foil Painting- roll paint onto tin foil and then draw with a qtip :) I know this is really meant to be an art project, but I like this idea for writing and spelling practice.

Memory Game DIY with Jenga pieces and scrapbook paper - want to DIY! Using thrift store Jenga game pieces and scraps of scrap paper

Paper Towel Butterflies- easy to make, fun to play with, and would make adorable decorations/favors for a party or kids room. Keep the potential mess from being stressful by doing this outside, on the grass, or using a big plastic tablecloth!  Kids would love this!

Snowmen on colorful backgrounds.

Students create a snowman with a fun (and Tall) hat. Day Students use markers to draw their snowman. Day use bright color paint to fill in the four equal squares of the background. Day Students dip their fingers in white paint to add the snow.
