This is a rare animal just discovered in the Amazon of Peru. They think it is a type of eel. It measures 4-5 feet, with scales. During flood season, the water comes just under some of the houses in Iquitos, and one family awoke to the scare of their life, when this animal came out from under their bed. They were trying to kill it with a machete, but its scales are so tough that they are impenetrable. They called the police and it is now being studied at a local university.
Vivid Snake Photos Come at a Cost — A Bite From a Black Mamba
photos by Mark Laita, for the book 'Serpentine,' a collection of gorgeously lit snakes on a black background. I'm not a fan of snakes but Wow I can appreciate the beauty of color , texture and patterns.
An Australian olive Python pulling up it's wallaby meal. Olive pythons can grow up to lengths of 4 metres, and sometimes exceed that. They are Australia's second largest snake, coming behind the amethystine or "scrub" Python.
The snake lunged for Ardhoniel with a lighting fast strike. I moved equally as fast, putting myself between it and her, and moving her out of harm's way. I then felt a white hot pain in my calf as the serpent sank its fangs into my leg.
