Mother is Rhesus(Rh) +(green -), child is Rh -(red +).  1st pregnancy, problems small, but if baby’s Red Blood Cells pass through into the mother ’s system(bottom L picture) during labor, mother produces anti-Rh antibodies(blue triangles). Mother Rh Sensitized, carries these antibodies in her immune system for life.  2nd pregnancy, anti-Rh antibodies attack and destroy the blood cells of her next Rh - baby causing jaundice, hemolytic disease or mild to possible fatal anemia(bottom R picture)
