Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, popularly known as the Desert Fox. He won the respect of both his own troops and the enemies he fought. Soldiers captured during his Africa campaign were reported to have been treated humanely. Late in the war, Rommel was linked to the conspiracy to kill Adolf Hitler. Since Rommel was widely renowned, Hitler chose to eliminate him quietly. Rommel agreed to commit suicide by taking a cyanide pill, in return for assurances his family would be spared.

The 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines (43 Cdo FP Gp RM), formerly Comacchio Company Royal Marines (1980–1983), Comacchio Group Royal Marines (1983–2001) and Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines (2001-2012), is a 790 man unit of the Royal Marines responsible for guarding the United Kingdom's Naval nuclear weaponsand other security-related duties. It falls under the authority of 3 Commando Brigade.

The last Unit to hold the name was disbanded in the aftermath of World War Two after fighting with distinction in the Mediterranean, Italy and the Adriatic.
