Pre-school students IDENTIFIED the steps in the papermaking process. #StemtoSTEAM #PRISMK12 @Philllipscollection #InspiredTeachingPublicCharterSchool

The students worked in groups to create a house made of paper. They collaborated and SYNTHESIZED the information they studied regarding engineering and design. They IDENTIFIED what materials would work best for their paper house. The groups documented their process via iStop Motion videos. #StemtoSTEAM #PRISMK12 @Philllipscollection

After the 3rd grade students created their cities of the future, the students EXPRESSED and IDENTIFIED what their urban landscapes would sound like. This urban soundscape included a hammer, swaying grass, and the Ritchie Valen's song, La Bamba. #StemtoSTEAM #PRISMK12 @Philllipscollection #InspiredTeachingPublicCharterSchool

Pre-schoolers examined plants that could be used to make paper. Thinking like scientists, they examined a variety of leaves they found outside and made texture rubbings. In the museum, with "wikki stix" students created shapes inspired by O'Keeffe. These leaf contours became printing plates! Students COMPARED their relief prints to their first texture rubbings. #GeorgiaOKeeffe at the #PhillipsCollection #nature #StemtoSTEAM #PRISMK12 @Philllipscollection #InspiredTeachingPublicCharterSchool

On a tour at @phillipsdc, 2nd grade students looked closely to IDENTIFY key characteristics in #ChristopherWood's painting "Tigers and the Arch de Triomphe" and used these observations to complete a fun #MadLib in-gallery activity #STEMtoSTEAM #PrismK12

1st grade students COMPARED the characteristics of three different habitats: ocean, forest and desert and created #collaborative paintings that showed their unique qualities #InspiredTeachingPublicCharterSchool #STEMtoSTEAM #PrismK12 #TeachwithPrismK12

3rd graders in the Courageous Crew spent math time DETERMINING the #area and #perimeter of rectilinear shapes by MEASURING in inches. Then they collaborated in small groups to DESIGN and CONSTRUCT their own replica of Piet Mondrian's compositions! #math #TakomaEC @Philllipscollection
