1828 Amalie Zephyrine von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, née Salm-Kyrburg by Auguste François Laby.  Stern looking Amalie Zephyrine's face peeks out of a heart-shaped lace hood, a combination of bonnet and cape, over a double-sleeves dress in this 1828 Laby portrait. Her hood rests on two shoulder wings. Her dress has a high vee neckline and, par for the era, dual high-puffed sleeves and a waistband setting off a modestly high waistline.

"Monsieur de Norvins", 1811-12, by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (French, 1780-1867). At the time the picture is said to have been painted, de Norvins was Chief of Police in the Napoleonic government in Rome.
