Typical Window Installation Defective House photo-blog "Here is a shot showing you how the windows were "flashed" with 30lb felt. The top trim board on this window was all rotten - it's no wonder. All of the water that was absorbed by the stucco just dumped right down into it. Where's the j-bead/plaster stop? Where's the head flashing? Again, a couple cents worth of metal could have prevented this disaster..."

Vernacular parallels: in elevations, proportions, gables, eaves and fascia, window insertions and trim color our 1980s construction (rear) mimics closely that of the two centuries earlier Fruh House (foreground) in all but materials: the ruddy greenish hues of the latter's serpentine field stone walls retain their distinct character set against the backdrop of the former's more muted sand-dune tones of stucco-clad timber frame. Modest wood clapboard siding belies the thrift of hardships of…

It's clear from the outside that something is very wrong with Carol Ecos' house. Black lines outline cracked stucco, plastic sheeting encases window frames. Inside, it's not much better. The smell of mold is strong enough that Ecos' dog sitter wears a mask when he visits. Ecos' insurance company even refused to insure her house … Video report by Anne Schindler, First Coast News, May 15, 2015
