~Seabiscuit~ 5.23.33 – 5.17.49. The bay colt grew up on Claiborne Farm in Paris, KY. Man o' War is the grandsire of Seabiscuit. Champion Thoroughbred racehorse. As a result of his races that year and the victory over War Admiral, Seabiscuit was named American Horse of the Year for 1938. A statue of Seabiscuit was installed at Santa Anita Racetrack. His burial site on the family ranch (California) is known only to the Howard family.

This photo was taken in May 2004 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. The horse, Stephan's Angel, was not very happy being saddled for the Miss Preakness Stakes and leaped straight up in the air. She went on to finish second in the race and is now a broodmare on a farm in Kentucky. This photo was printed in Mid Atlantic Thoroughbred magazine and won the Eclipse Award for best thoroughbred horse racing photo of 2004.
