Tefal electric kettle / origin: our own / Problem: after about 15 years, it suddenly stopped working / Fix: replacing the defective switch, which is operated by a nifty lever assembly. You have to pop off the top button to get to the screws that hold the top cover in place. As I had trouble finding a switch of this size that was rated for 9 amps, I decided to use one that was rated for 6.5 amps.
