On August 11, 1942, U.S. Patent 2,292,387 was granted to George Antheil and Hedy Kiesler Markey (Hedy Lamarr) for a frequency-hopping spread-spectrum invention - a concept which serves as the foundation for many modern wireless communication technologies, including Bluetooth and WiFi.
