Gunter’s wall pieces are individually hand drawn, and then cut by hand using a plasma cutter, resulting in a sensitive and distinct line quality. These pieces are made using 12g steel. They are painted using an industrial paint, making them suitable in or outdoors. They mount with brackets a few inches from the wall, causing them to cast shadows on the hanging surface. Custom sizes available.

Venus Revealed This global view of the surface of Venus is centered at 180 degrees east longitude. Magellan synthetic aperture radar mosaics from the first cycle of Magellan mapping are mapped onto a computer-simulated globe to create this image. Data gaps are filled with Pioneer Venus Orbiter data, or a constant mid-range value. Simulated color is used to enhance small-scale structure. The simulated hues are based on color images recorded by the Soviet Venera 13 and 14 spacecraft.

Space Photo of the Day 2012

Venus revealed - This image was made from radar data taken in 1991 by the Magellan spacecraft, which eventually mapped 98 percent of the planet's surface. The bright region at the center of the image is a rugged highland area known as Aphrodite Terra.

The setting sun casts pink on the snow relief. The shadow areas have a strong, blue hue as the light reflects from the clear blue sky. Pay attention as the light transforms smoothly into shadow on the curved surfaces of snow heaps, whereas the cast shadows behind the heaps have sharp edges.

Light: This photo shows many different aspects of lighting. It presents an appealing light source coming from the left top side of the photo. It also has strong cast shadows to the right of the dog. In addition, there is a strong reflection of Haystack Rock on the sand as the wet sand reflects the object. The strong light source gives texture to the seemingly flat sand surface by providing shadows and highlights to the surface.

Apps for Flat-Earthers Some facts: the Earth is an oblate spheroid; the Earth and Moon orbit the Sun which is a star approximately 150 million km away; gravity holds water people and animals as well as politicians and accountants to the surface of the planet. It is this force that is also responsible for the orbits of the planets. If the Earth was flat then cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now.
