Pan American Exposition 1901 Art Building Gallery 1. The total number of works was  1,500 & 1,600;  900 of which were paintings.   This exhibit represented the first time the "American School" of art had been assembled in the US. It was critically acclaimed at its opening and has remained an important historical milestone in American art history. Pan-American Expo 1901 From: www.panam1901.org  The Miniature Railway was a concession that had become popular since being invented in 1885 by Niagara Falls, NY brothers Peter and Thomas McGarigle. By 1898, they had become manufacturers for the Cagney Brothers, New Jersey showmen, and it was their Miniature Railway Company that installed 15-inch track on the Exposition grounds to run their scale-model passenger rides in six locations on the grounds.
