"The Martian" by Andy Weir. Mark is left alone on Mars because the rest of his crew thinks he's dead, and he basically turns into MacGyver to try to stay alive. It's technical enough to seem realistic, but the details are broken up with lots of snark and humor so it never weighs the story down. Thrilling and hilarious!
