La Palette in 1973 was a quiet cafe that was falling apart at the seams. Luckily it came into vogue again and has been saved from the renovations that swept Paris at this time, when many beautiful places were demolished. I used to spend many an hour writing quietly and drinking a cappuccino there, but nowadays one is lucky to find a table at all. Great art deco tiles in the back room create a fantastic ambiance that evokes a period long gone now. I lived around the corner on rue Mazarine.
