For Martin Luther King day we featured some of our holdings by African American and abolitionist authors...we found works by Paul Laurence Dunbar(1872-1906) Mary Weston Fordham(1844–1905), W.E.B Du Bois(1868-1963), Booker T. Washington(1856-1915), Charles W. Chesnutt (1858-1932) and James Baldwin(1924-1987), Lydia Maria Child(1802-1880) and an 1852 People's Illustrated Edition of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Our collection contains several of his works including his best known Essays of Elia and the children's book Tales from Shakespeare, which wrote with his sister, Mary Lamb (1764–1847). Mr. Lamb was also part of a literary circle with Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth and letters to both these men appear in the book "The Works of Charles Lamb."

For the birthday of French Gothic Revival architect and theorist, Eugène Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc (18140-1879) we pulled some images from two of his best known works: Dictionnaire raisonné de l'architecture française du XIe au XVIe siècle(1854–1868) and Histoire de l'habitation humaine, depuis les temps préhistoriques jusqu'à nos jours (1875)  Dictionnaire is 10 volumes and, like Histoire, is printed in the original French with illustrations.

We have an extensive collection of his writings including; Outre-Mer (1835), Ballads and Other Poems (1841), Poets and Poetry of Europe (1844), Evangeline and The Estray (both 1847), The Golden Legend (1851) The Courtship of Miles Standish (1858) Kéramos (1878) and several volumes of compiled works, all of which were published during his lifetime.
