Chepstow, Newport, Rhode Island Newport-born architect and entrepreneur George Champlin Mason built Chepstow (1860-1861) for Edmund Schermerhorn, a descendant of one of the first settlers in New Netherland.
Oheka Castle -First Floor. Built by Otto Hermann Kahn. Nation's 2nd largest surviving private residence at 109,000 square feet. Built upon a man-made hill on Long Island's famed Gold Coast after Kahn's previous residence in New Jersey burned. Has 127 rooms on 3 floors and once sat at the center of a 400+ acre estate.
