Framed chalkboard above buffet table: All for $40! Found the frame(including two others nailed inside of it) for $20 at Salvation Army. Bought a piece of plyboard for $20 at Home Depot and painted it with brown chalk board paint. LOVE this look. Next time I will sand the plyboard down before painting it to make a smooth surface to write on!
This is something I love about craftsman interiors. The use of the columns and half walls between rooms define separate spaces (and provide useful built-in bookcases), but do so in a way that doesn't block the light or make the house house feel chopped up
To paint this piece I used Annie Sloan’s Pure White until it ran out. Then I used my DIY chalk paint to finish it off. Then I gave it a good sanding and a coat of Annie Sloan’s clear soft wax to seal (two coats on the top).
