NTK Art- During the early eighteenth century there was another extremely popular style of architecture called baroque. Baroque style stressed grandeur and power. Architects could combine different styles like traditional, classical, or any other style and use it on a large scale like Versailles or the Church of the Fourteen Saints.

This engraving represents the arrival at Versailles on September 1, 1686, of the letter engraved on a gold leaf sent by the King of Siam (Thailand). The oldest of the Siamese ambassadors knew the court of the Chinese Emperor Kangxi and his master, King Phra Narai (1633-1688), wanted to know how the court of Versailles supported the comparison with that of China. The crowd of the curious rushes to the show in the courtyard of the castle.
