ETHEL TURNER (24 January 1872 – 8 April 1958) was an Australian novelist and children's writer, best known for the children's classic, Seven Little Australians. Born in Doncaster, England, Ethel came to Australia with her mother and siblings when she was 10. She started her writing career at eighteen with her sister Lillian, with whom she founded the Parthenon, a journal for young people. After her daughter's death, she stopped writing. She passed away in Mosman, Sydney at the age of 88.
