The Fingal's sea cave in the Hebrides Islands of Scotland is a huge natural formation, discovered in the 17th century and called after an Irish legendary hero. Impossible not to feel like the hero of a tale walking its surroundings.
HMS FORMIDABLE on fire after she was struck by a Kamikaze pilot off Okinawa on May 4, 1945. Formidable was part of the 1st Carrier Squadron and launched her planes repeatedly to bombard Japanese positions. Despite serious damage, Formidable remained under her own power and, o May 31, reached the Captain Cook Dock at the Garden Island Dockyard for repairs.
This is the velella (Velella Velella), a small free floating hydrozoan. It's currently the only known species in the genus. They're also known as sea-rafts or by-the-wind-sailors, for the obvious reason that it uses the the "sail" you can see in this image for locomotion. Because of this, they are often found washed up on beaches.
