BN SD40-2 7151, Riverdale, IL It's early 1979 and we're starting to get a little tired of seeing Burlington Northern SD40-2s. It seemed like the BN had cornered the market on these six axle units. Maybe, they knew what they were doing. The SD40-2 proved to be one of EMD's best products, if not the best. Here's a new one, the 7151, sitting in Barr Yard, waiting for the B&OCT to deliver it to its new home. Doesn't look so boring today.... Photo by Bill Johnson.
https://flic.kr/p/u2Mvjr | Low Speed Chase in KC | Slow Speed Race: In a chase that would embarrass OJ Simpson, an eastbound BNSF intermodal train rolls down the flyover as Amtrak's train 311/316 (anyone want to claim what number it is at this point?) lumbers back towards Union Station after turning itself at BN Crossing. Combined speed of the two trains at this point was possibly 20 mph.
Northtown wasn't quite ready for the train so they stopped for a few minutes at Interstate. It's a wide open spot perfect for roster shots. I sort of felt like I needed a shower and a cigarette after this one if you know what I mean.
