The Zawiya of Ibn 'Arraq was first recovered in 1992 and was immediately declared a sacred site by local Shiite communities. At the time it was claimed that a fountain of orange-blossom water has burst and filled the place with its aroma.  #Lebanon #Travel #bestoftheday #Beauty #Heritage #photooftheday #TryLebanon #ExperienceLebanon #LiveLebanon #WeLoveLebanon #Beirut #History #Arabs #archaeologist #Downtown #SoukBeirut

When the Hall hosted this exhibit in 2010, we made connections with campus and community organizations who didn't think of us as interested in social issues or social justice. We hosted a panel of faculty whose research illuminated the issues behind the exhibit and we provided facilitators for groups that were visiting the exhibit to discuss and process the provocative content. Not great at the box office, but excellent for our mission.

This is a great touring exhibit I saw in Des Moines and is going to be at the UNI Museum early next month.

The largest and most magnificent church in medieval #Scotland, #StAndrewsCathedral was begun around 1160, close to its predecessor, St Rule's. The cathedral complex, including its Augustinian priory, was encircled by a great precinct wall, which separated this sacred space from the burgh of St Andrews to the west. The history of the site goes back at least as far as 700s, when the earliest known reference was made to a monastic community at #StAndrews- then known as Cennrígmonaid.
