According to DSWT, the bird became an "integral part of the nursery family there" and was loved by the elephants who would hug her, play with her, and "positively maul [her] with affection."Although Pea quickly had many friends at the sanctuary there was 1 elephant with whom she had a special friendship…
I guess you'd need to lose an animal to appreciate this...I do. (Original message with this post: Joy Angels by Lisa Dingle (the mother of one of my best friends!) Extremely touching read for anyone who has ever lost a loved animal.)
#nomorolemodel Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English author, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist best known for her children's books such as those in The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1901), which she wrote for the five-year-old son of her governess. She was happily married but the couple were childless. Beatrix's conservation efforts and generosity were a key factor in the creation of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Her home 'Hilltop' is now owned by the National Trust.
For all our friends who have loved and lost a dear animal friend.. "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply, becomes a part of us." ~Helen Keller~ "No words that I can pen will ease the pain and the feeling of hopelessness that is the unavoidable companion to the death of a friend. And yet he hasn’t gone away forever, for he will always live in your thoughts and your mind and be one of the best parts of the past." ~Earnest H. Hart
