In double fertilization, one sperm cell fertilizes the egg to form a zygote which is basically a fertilized egg. The second joins with the two polar nuclei which will develop into the endosperm. Learn more in our Plant Reproduction in Angiosperms video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLYPm2idSTE

Many flowers contain both male and female parts. Some flowers only contain one gender of parts. Learn more in our Plant Reproduction in Angiosperms video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLYPm2idSTE

Meiosis: cell division necessary for sexual reproduction in eukaryotes, such as animals, plants & fungi. The number of sets of chromosomes in the cell undergoing meiosis is reduced to half the original number, typically from two sets (diploid) to one set (haploid). The cells produced by meiosis are either gametes (the usual case in animals) or otherwise usually spores from which gametes are ultimately produced (the case in land plants).

This is sort of an example of gamete in an indirect way. This is because a gamete is a mature sexual reproductive cell, and this shows meiosis, a division that is mandatory to produce a sexual reproductive cell.

Week 3. No bones about it; your bones can’t do much without muscles to move them. You have three major types of muscle tissue known as skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle. Learn about all 11 organ systems with the Amoeba Sisters! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnjmrrQ6xOs, w3

Sugar plum fairies meet photosynthetic sugar fairies…which technically are IN plum trees. I think we’re thinking too hard about this. Remember you can find all our goofy science GIFs hereAND learn more about photosynthesis (and teeny tiny pigment pancakes) in our video!
