Explore Octagon House 2014, Restoration and more!

Octagon House, 1854, Watertown, Wisconsin Orson Squire Fowler's creative octagonal architectural design book touted the health benefits and beauty of the form, and that little exterior decorative details were needed; however, many were built with some decorative exterior details influenced by other styles. Built mostly in New York (particularly the Hudson Valley), Massachusetts, and the U.S. Midwest, the design was considered rare, but at least a thousand or so were built.

Level 1 This style of house was popular for the usable floor spaces.
