7. Chow Chow (Weight: 50-70 lbs.) The Chow Chow seems to be distant and independent, however they require staunch attention. If badly bred they can become aggressive dogs.

The Chow Chow is a unique breed of dog thought to be one of the oldest recognizable breeds. Research indicates it is one of the first primitive breeds to evolve from the wolf. The breed is distinguished by its unusual blue-black/purple tongue and very straight hind legs. The bluish color extends to the Chow Chow's lips; this is the only dog breed with this distinctive bluish color in its lips and oral cavity.

Although known to be a quiet dog the Akita has strong guarding instincts and will sound the alarm if an intruder breaks into their house. Akita temperament can range from calm to bouncy and aggressive, so the breed should always be supervised around small children and other animals. Akitas like to be "pack leader," so obedience training is also necessary for a harmonious household. The breed will groom itself like a cat, but daily brushing is still necessary, as is daily exercise.

9. Boxer (Weight: 50-70 lbs.) These dogs are intelligent, frisky and full of energy. It is not so easy to train them as they are self-willed breed. In addition, boxers are not typically aggressive by nature.
