A similar comb can be seen page 132 in "The Jewelry of Southeast Asia" by Anne Richter, published by Thames & Hudson. It is said that this kind of comb was worn by the middle class women of Southern Vietnam, early-mid- 20th century. Early 20th Century.

The British Museum announces a major new archaeological acquisition, made possible by generous support from donors including the British Museum Friends, the Art Fund and the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF). The Nimrud Ivories are the finest collection of carved, decorative ivories excavated in the Middle East.   Some of these precious pieces of elephant ivory are nearly 3,000 years old and were excavated from Nimrud in modern day Iraq in the mid-20th century.
