Keeper of the Plains: A symbol of Wichita and Sedgwick County, this majestic 44-foot sculpture was designed by Blackbear Bosin (1921-1980), a Kiowa-Comanche and internationally recognized artist, muralist and designer. Blackbear Bosin (June 5, 1921–August 9, 1980) was a Comanche-Kiowa sculptor and painter, also known as Tsate Kongia.  He lived and created his art in Wichita, Kansas.  He is most well known for his sculpture "The Keeper of the Plains," a 44-foot sculpture which graces the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers.
