Explore The Atlantic, Things Irish and more!

Night on St. Kilda in the Atlantic west of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. This is the village that the islanders abandoned in 1930 when they just couldn’t go on. It’s now a UNESCO World Heritage site, cared for by the National Trust for Scotland. Several of the houses have been restored to provide housing for Trust workers. I stayed in this one, while it rained for a week and I read the haunting tale of the people of St. Kilda. @natgeo @natgeocreative #scotland #hebrides
