Al Shams  In his quest to preserve the beauty of traditional Islamic architecture, Alan Adams has created another modern-day masterpiece. His Al Shams lattice panel is inspired by 14th century Mamluk architecture from Cairo, Egypt. This pattern once decorated a pair of minbar doors in the Mosque of Emir Sayf al-Din Qawsun. Today, the original doors can be viewed at the new Islamic Art Galleries of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. I
