Chess Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at Madison. This month the club will meet on 4/15/14.

The Misericordia University Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society is hosting the third annual poetry benefit auction, "The Wonder of Words,'' on Tuesday, April 19 from 7-9:30 p.m. in the McGowan Room of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library. All proceeds from the event will benefit the scholastic book fund that will enable students in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District to purchase books at book fairs. The event is open free to the public.

"The author looking into the history of his family through a collection of Japanese carvings he was left by a relative resonated with me as I look at even the smallest of old family treasures as a chapter I might miss. With this premise, De Waal searched into a dramatic family story of World War ll in such a meaningful way."

The Movie Club will be meeting at the Madison Branch on 4/28 at 7pm. This month's movie is 'Note by Note: The Making of Steinway L1037.' Copies are available at either circulation desk. For more information, please call (812) 265-2744.

Preschool Storytime for ages 3-6 years old will be held at the Hanover Branch at 10:30am each Thursday morning from April 3rd through May 1st. Storytime is free, but registration is required. To sign up, please call (812) 866-1470.

Stop by both branches of the Jefferson County Public Library during the month of April to celebrate D.E.A.R., also known as Drop Everything And Read! We are encouraging all ages to read for fun. The Children's Room will focus on folk and fairy tales.

Poetry Fun for Everyone! On April 21, 2014, come down to the Madison Branch from 3-5pm to read and listen to poems, play with magnetic poetry, write an “about me” or guided poem, or try mad libs or haiku! All ages are welcome! For more information, please call (812) 265-2744.
