‘Eleanor & Park’ by Rainbow Rowell. I stayed up until 7am to finish it this morning. Very gritty and the best somewhat non-conventional love story I've come across yet (nice change of pace from Sarah Dessen type romances). Definitely going to read Rainbow's other books now.
I'm reading this right now and its pretty amazing. It covers our economic history from the Industrial Revolution until now - how consumerism was "invented" in the 1920s, innovative plans by Kellogg to incorporate the thirty hour work week in the thirties to lower unemployment rates, and how in the 1800s, it was thought that electricity would create a future utopian society.
