Mccaig's Tower, Oban - built 1897-1900 by local banker John Stuart McCaig who's aim was to provide work for local stonemasons - circular (not oval) copy of the Colosseum in Rome (featuring Gostic instead of Roman arches) - overlooks the town of Oban - was intended to have a museum and art gallery within the structure.

It was constructed in c. 82 AD by the Roman Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus to commemorate Titus' victories, including the Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
