Car 46 - 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT - our 9th race car - This was another "smoke damaged" Alfa. These cars were on the Tarantino transport ship that caught fire, destroying hundreds of cars and smoking up hundreds more. Alfa sold these smokey Alfas "for racing purposes only" at 50% of invoice. Paid $3,750 for this one on 1-29-77.
Car 125 - 1993 Mazda Miata 1-28-12 - The Miata as originally purchased by my brother, David. It had been repainted an odd blue color from its factory red. We decided to paint it British Racing Green! This was a remarkably original low mileage Miata. Brought back a lot of memories of my race car.
Car 61 - 1977 Mazda RX3 - 15th race - This RX3 was purchased in Ventura California late July 1980 as a replacement for our first RX3 race car which was claimed by a competitor at the Pueblo event a week earlier. The rules of Showroom Stock included a provision that a competitor could "claim" another car for Blue Book price plus $500. A good rule which they abandoned shortly later.
My second Abarth purchased Painted this car with spray cans in the lube bay of our service station in. Did not appreciate the rarity of this car. What I really wanted back then was a Fiat Abarth Zagato coupe!
Car 35 (cars 33 and 34 were a couple of Midgets bought and disassembled for parts then sold to scrap metal yards) - 1967 MGB. My 3rd MGB. Restored and used as a street car in 1975. Ellen and I drove this car to Pebble Beach from Salt Lake with the top down all the way.
Car 101 - race car - IMCA Modified - Stieg Svard built the engine, a small block Chevrolet. Qualified fastest and finished in the Main in the first race for this car.
99th car - 22nd race car - 1986 Toyota Supra Turbo - Another team I drove for was the Craig Horning Toyota Team and I did this one race with them since Ray Korman was still repairing the BMW M3 after the Sebring problems plus blowing up the engine at the Riverside race a month later.
Car 108 - 27th race car - 1991 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 1991 - World of Speed 9-14-69 - Ellen ran 159.354 MPH. Rules of the club dictate you cannot run over 160 (due to some safety requirements) to gain membership in the club. Ellen really pushed the limit! The Z was so quick she had to back off before the second timing light.
Car 86 - 1973 Dodge Charger - A little fiberglass and mud and it looked pretty spiffy! I managed to save the reflective "laser" stripes.
