Chilli Jam: Although I call this chilli jam, I don't mean by this that it's the sort of thing you'd spread on your toast at breakfast (though smeared inside a bacon sandwich, it could be a real help one hungover morning) but rather a chilli jelly - chelly? - that glows a fiery, flecked red and is fabulous with cold meats or a cheese plate. And just a small pot of it makes a gorgeous present.
Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' (Japanese Maple) - One of the best Japanese maples for autumn colour, Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' is an elegant plant with leaves which turn glorious shades of bright scarlet in the autumn. The leaves are dark green from spring to early autumn. A superb large garden shrub or small tree for leaf colour in October.
Jamaican spiced corn soup recipe By Lucy Williams...This Jamaican flavoured soup is hot and spicy, but the creamy coconut milk tempers the fiery heat of the Scotch bonnet chilli. This is great to have stored in the freezer.
We love pasture reared eggs for breakfast, lunch and supper and this satisfying dish also makes a favourite weekend brunch. It comes together in no time at all, leaving you plenty of time to potter around, read the papers, and relax. The fiery rich red sauce with the cool and creamy smashed avocado is a delicious combo.
