1. The Pyramids of Giza - these great Egyptian pyramids were built during 2700 - 2500 B.C. in Giza on the west bank of the Nile for Pharoah Khufu. The largest - and considered the most important - the "Great Pyramid" spans 13 acres and is 450 feet high. The pyramid shape resembles the slanting rays of the sun and is also thought that the slanting rays helped the king's soul to climb up to meet the gods.
