German photographer couple, Bernd & Hilla Becher’s water tower series is fantastic. I love it when artists take something industrial & utilitarian and transform it to be so completely gorgeous. Plus there’s a really nice graininess…something delightfully unrefined about these that a lot of modern photography just doesn’t have these days. Also why don’t American water towers look like this??
Straining Tower - Lake Vyrnwy, Wales (built in the 1880s). Lake Vyrnwy supplies Liverpool with water. The water travels along a 70 mile aqueduct which starts at the Straining Tower. Stayed at the hotel here for work...so beautiful!
I want one! Water Tower Turned London Residence - With all the converted spaces of today, this London residence, a former water tower, is a pretty exciting one to share! In 2008, Leigh Osbourne and Graham Voce bought this 99 foot tall crowned with a huge steel water tank tower for £395,000 and converted it into a luxury home.
