This fantastical gatehouse is the Micklegate Bar, the southern entrance into the city of York in North Yorkshire, England. Following the Battle of Wakefield during the Wars of the Roses, the heads of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York (father of King Edward IV and Richard III), Edmund, Earl of Rutland (another son of Richard) and Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury were displayed on Micklegate Bar.
Baros Resort, Baros Island, Maldives. When the resort opened in 1973, it was the 3rd resort on the island. As a pioneer for the luxury travel industry in the Maldives, Baros was able to secure one of the most beautiful places in the world. Baros was chosen to be a special resort because it was small, unspoilt and idyllically located in the centre of the atoll, with its own reef encircling a pristine lagoon and untouched sandy shores.
