Simple Pleasures, Camera

On a winter day in the 1920s, a group of boys had a special treat. The nuns who cooked for the boys made strawberry jam during the fall. The sisters also baked fresh bread every day. On this cold afternoon, the sisters served the boys fresh baked bread and strawberry jam. For many of the boys, these simple pleasures were something they had never experienced before. Whenever possible, Father Flanagan made sure the boys had these luxuries just like any other child. | BoysTown.org
