L. 19C - E 20C Turkish Yelek, woman's open coat (robe) of dark red silk embroidered overall with couched gold thread in leaf and floral pattern, scoop neck with buttons at bust, trimmed with gold braid, as are pocket slits, long sleeves open and zig-zag to elbow, trimmed with gold braid. Lined with pink cotton with red and green leaf pattern in stripes.

Ensemble 18th Century  Turkey Any ancient garments preserved till contemporary times are unique and a real rarity (except of the sultan’s garments stored in a treasury in Top Kapi Saray in Istanbul). For researchers they make a subject of study on account of the fabric and the old style. Predominantly the old fashion is known from paintings. Many Turkish miniatures present the court scenes or the figures of noble people resembling the portraits.
