Nice Floor. Per Marcus...You can use cob/clay as an infill between the logs in a cordwood wall and I see no reason why it wouldn't work for a floor as well as you can make entire floors out of clay/earth.     To keep the cob from leaving any gaps between it and the logs I would speculate that it has to do with getting the right amount of sand in the cob mix.
