“Since 1997, the building known locally as “The House of Falling Furniture” located at the corner of 6th st. and Howard st. in San Francisco, has been a sculptural mural.The piece consists of sometimes malshapened tables, chairs, lamps and even a grandfather clock, all hanging precariously out of the building’s windows.
Giant objects. Claes Oldenburg is a Swedish sculptor who makes large replicas of everyday objects. He was born in 1929 and moved to Chicago in 1936. He went to Yale University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He's been associated with the Pop Art movement since the 1960s. He created most of his sculptures in collaboration with his late wife Coosje van Bruggen. More here.
This photo is of graffiti but still shows my idea. My idea is to take photos that I have taken and overlay them onto certain things: a face, a hand, a shelf or a cabinet. I will try to create something that contains multiple textures and colors. I will also attempt using black & white. I will edit some of the images before I overlay them onto the object to try and create some interesting and colorful effects.
