Coat canvas with metallic spray paint. (Brian used Rust-Oleum in Stainless Steel because of its low-luster finish.) Let dry. Dilute pearlized or metallic acrylic crafts paint with water to create a liquid with a subtle shimmer. (Concentration can be as thin as three drops of paint per 1/2 cup water, or as thick as 1 tablespoon paint per 1/4 cup water.)
The architectural strategy of this small Manhattan loft creates four “living platforms” that accommodate everything necessary, while still allowing the apartment to feel open and bright. The lowest level is an entry and kitchen space, and a few steps up is the main living area.
Thanks to an open floor plan, the funky dining room is the epicenter of this contemporary downtown loft. A purple accent wall outlines the dining room and kitchen, while a mix of lighting helps to define each space. The blown glass pendants above the dining table add sculptural elegance.
