Malta is considering a proposal by the Swedish company Hexicon to build the world’s largest floating wind farm. It would consist of 36 turbines arranged around a 460-meter-wide platform, tethered to the ocean floor by cables. The proposed site for the platform is 11 nautical miles off the island’s northeast shore. It would be far enough away to take advantage of high ocean winds yet close enough that it could be connected to the country’s electricity grid without too much trouble.

J.B. Bakema. Observation tower ‘Euromast’, Rotterdam, 1958. NAi Collection / MAQV 1144  Bakema designed the 125-meter observation tower on the occasion of the first international horticulture exhibition "Floriade", (Rotterdam, 1960). He based his idea for the structure on the Wolkenbügel projects by El Lissitzky in the 1920s. The municipal council wanted to erect a structure that reflected the pride of the city of Rotterdam. Bakema's design was never realized though.
