An important Nantgarw square dish from the MacIntosh service, painted with a wading bird standing on mossy rocks between aquatic plants, before a duck in flight, within borders of floral sprays & gilt shell & foliate motifs, c.1818-20, 24.2cm. Cf. W D John, Nantgarw. The painting on plates & dishes from this service is now believed to have been executed by Thomas Martin Randall at the establishment of Messrs. Robins & Randall, after engravings from Le Vaillant of Paris (c.1801-06).
