Bob the cat patiently allows 89-year-old Lois Prince, a resident at Callahan Court Memory Care, to poke and pat him, tug his tail and pick him up. The long-haired black tomcat doesn’t even object to being referred to as “she.” “She’s a good girl. Are you Mama’s kitty?” Prince asked as she hugged her furry friend. Bob, a former stray, is much loved by many Callahan residents. Studies show having a pet can calm Alzheimer’s patients, reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress and more!

This past weekend the FCCO mobile hospital headed 244 miles south to Coquille, Oregon, for a spay/neuter clinic. With help from Coquille-area volunteers and coordinators, 85 cats were spayed or neutered yesterday! Kudos to everyone that help make these mobile clinics possible so we can reach areas with limited spay/neuter resources.
