Chased Silver Betel Box Shan People, Eastern Burma 19th century height: 12.5cm diameter: 12cm, weight: 363g This chased silver betel box comprises a base and a cover. The base sits on a flared foot which is mirrored by an equally flared rim around the top of the cover. The cover stretches down over most of the box. Its sides are decorated with Burmese/Shan zodiac signs and other symbols including a fish with an elephant's head, within cartouches separated by panels filled with stylised birds…
