Bible Art by Vicky Murphy

The bible, which will have a few on set, is used to educate characters about the witch happenings. Mainly used by the reverend, the bible represents the hope in the destruction of the witches.

Jan 4, 2016 December 18th we gained a new addition to our family. As I held tiny Maddy (our first great granddaughter) and looked into her face I thought about how Mary must have felt the first time she held our Savior in her arms. It inspired me to want to draw this picture in my Bible. The New Year has begun and 2016 comes with new BEGINNINGS to recommit ourselves to being more like Christ. A new baby brings new life into a family and Jesus brought NEW LIFE for mankind.

MONDAY MORNING MUSING May 30, 2016 Recently a scissortail built a nest right outside our front door. Yesterday while we were at church something emptied the nest of all four of the baby birds. I know that God’s eye is on the sparrow and I know that other animals need to eat but it breaks my heart. How much more do the destructive things humans do to one another break God’s heart. I love this picture that Sally drew this in her Bible over the verse “Though your sins be red like…

MONDAY MORNING MUSING May 2, 2016 In my classes that I teach BIBLE ART (copyrighted) we don’t just color pictures. We read the word of God and highlight the main characters or subject. That’s why it’s called BIBLE ART. It’s a combination of Bible Study and drawing pictures. Sometimes the subject is a name like Esau & Jacob, sometimes it’s a word repeated like “blessing.” I try to match the color of the person with the color of their clothing. I also have a color chart that I recommend.

August 22, 2016 Last week I had acquired a bad case of food poisoning and was unable to teach Bible Art. I had already prepared Matthew 1 for the class and I was happy that Cora was able to pick up the slack and teach the class. I had several pictures for the ladies to illustrate Mary and baby Jesus. This is Patty’s Bible and I think she did a great job. Notice if you leave off the details in the face you can read the WORD much better.

Feb 29, 2016 In our class we always read the scriptures before we draw. I had several options for the ladies in Gen 11-12. Some choose NOT to color pictures and only highlight words in that chapter. Some use symbols and others draw pictures. I printed up a graphic for them to trace and color. I also printed a label that fits in one column. There is not a WRONG way to do BIBLE ART!

Feb 22, 2016 I started teaching this in 1984 & tried to make Bible Art accessible for anyone and affordable. It bothers me that there are many out there selling material and profiting. So let me share with you one of my suggestions. You can purchase clear labels in many different sizes and print your pictures from you home computer. You can find all kinds of Bible Story clip art online. The rainbow has been printed on a clear sticker and the ark I drew.

Monday Morning Musing August 9, 2016 When I first started teaching this concept in 1984 I endured a lot of criticism. Now it thrills my heart to see so many drawing some incredible pictures in their Bibles. PLEASE make it a priority to emphasize the word and not your drawing! This scripture illustrated is Habakkuk 3:19 “The Lord God is my strength and he will make my feet like hinds feet and he will make me to walk upon mine high places….” It’s a beautiful illustration of HIS WORD!
