You start with 4 stitches then repeat 2 rows until you which the size you want or run out of yarn. For striping, switch yarns with each 2 row repeat. Pictured project by barmel

Cast on 4 sts Row 1: Knit to last stitch, yarn over, knit into the front and back of the last stitch Row 2: Yarn over, knit to last 2 sts, knit 2 together Repeat these two rows until shawl reaches your desired size. NOTE: For a striped effect like the shawl pictured, switch yarns after every two-row repeat.
